Birth Justice Consortium
Rooted In Community, Committed To Change.
At Families Forward Resource Center (FFRC), we are committed to improving the lives of families by ensuring that every voice, especially those most impacted by maternal and infant health disparities, is heard and valued.
Our collaborative network focuses on leveraging expertise and community assets to inform community conversations, identify areas of opportunity, and programs and activities that work to eliminate infant and maternal health inequities in our Black and African American communities. We focus on systems change and the social determinants of health to dismantle systems of inequity and injustice that impact Black and African American perinatal health.
Our Focus
Our policy and advocacy work centers on amplifying community voices, driving systemic change, and advancing equity in health outcomes. We do this through:
-
Nonpartisan voter education and registration efforts that empower community members to participate fully in the democratic process.
-
Education and events that equip individuals and families to engage directly with elected officials and decision-makers.
-
Community Conversations that bring residents together to share experiences, inform our programs, and guide meaningful partnerships.
-
Collaborative partnerships with stakeholders to advocate for life-saving policies at the local, state, and federal levels.

Our Approach
Our strength-based strategy emphasizes partnerships and associations, focuses on community, and believes that people are the answer to difficult issues communities may face.
